Ascend Armenia’s core team is made up of local Armenians and lovers of Armenia who are dedicated to putting on a challenging, beautiful race that showcases the beauty of Armenia itself.

Tatev Avetisyan

Tatev brings with her a native Armenian’s point of view as she helps to organize and market Ascend Armenia both inside of the country and to the wider world. She’s a core part of our leadership team who keeps track of innumerable race details. Tatev bring unique cultural fluency and understanding when navigating permitting, government agencies, and communication with racers.

Tom Fitzgerald

Tom birthed the idea for the Ascend Armenia race and has served as the chief organizer, route planner, and advocate for this event since its inception. He plays key roles in administration, relationship, planning, and government relations. Tom will be directing the 2024 edition of the race.

Stephen Fitzgerald

Stephen has been exploring new challenges on two wheels for more than three decades. In 2021 and 2022 Stephen rode and explored much of the course and regions that it passes through on scouting trips trips to Armenia. He served as race director of the 2023 version of the race.

For 2024 Stephen has stepped away from race planning and administration, but still offers advice and guidance for the event from a rider and racer perspective.
